The three-bedroom miner’s cottage offers you all the comforts of home and is suitable for couples, families and social groups. With a fully-equipped kitchen, fenced backyard and off-street parking, it offers the ideal base to explore the history and cuisine of Victoria's gold fields.

Description

The cosy cottage can comfortably sleep six; two bedrooms have queen beds, the third two king-singles. A double sofa-bed is situated in a common area.The mainstreet of Maryborough is an easy five to ten-minute walk from Welcome Stranger Cottage. Courtesy buses run regularly from both the Highland Society and the Golf Club. V/Line trains run directly from Southern Cross to Maryborough Station. V/Line buses run between Maryborough and Castlemaine. Maryborough Transit runs buses in and around Maryborough. Taxis are readily available throughout Maryborough.

Reservations
The cottage comfortably accommodates 6 persons with the possibility of 2 extra adults sleeping in a double sofa bed in the utility room. The maximum number of guests is 8 persons.

Pricing
The cottage has a minimum cost of 2 persons per night which gives the guest access to the entire cottage and gardens. The cost per night will vary according to the rates set for each holiday season. To have extra guests staying each night incurs a further AU$40 per person regardless of age. A cleaning cost of AU$20 is placed per rental period.
We reserve the right to change our fees.
Errors and mistakes in our Search & Book system are not binding.
Payment
All payments are made through our booking agents. For last minute reservations the entire amount must be paid by credit card through our booking agent which can be accessed through our website under ‘Things To Do.’
Arrival and departure
The cottage accommodation can be entered on the day of arrival from 2.00 pm
Upon arrival if the owners are unable to greet you alternate access is granted to the property via a key safe located at the property. Details will be sent by text on the day of arrival. If anyone other than the main guest or someone who belongs to the same travelling company will pick up the key please notify us in advance.
What do we ask of you? Upon departure:
On the day of departure the latest checkout time is 10:00 am. Keys can be replaced in the key box.
* Switch off the lights and empty any of your belongings in the fridge.
* Turn of any appliances you have used while staying in the cottage.
* Check power points for any chargers or electronic equipment you might have left behind.
* Check that you have packed everything into your vehicle.
If something is inadvertently left behind contact the owners and they can make arrangements to reunite you and the item.
Cancellation
You should arrange a cancellation or travel insurance yourself.
Our policy regarding cancellation are:
At cancellation from 1 months before your rental period we will charge 10% of the total amount unless prior arrangements are made with the owners. If you cancel 1 week before your arrival the full amount is payable.
Cancellations must be notified in writing (including by email) to the owner immediately.
We are a ‘Bushfire Aware Property’.Our cottage is in a high-risk bushfire zone. Even though the cottage is in an urban environment burning embers are easily drifted to high risk fire fuels. We are part of the ‘North Central Fire District’ please listen to local radio or monitor the online websites www.bom.gov.au/vic/and www.emergency.vic.gov.au for daily fire restrictions. If a ‘Code Red’ event is called by the fire authorities for the day you are to arrive DO NOT COME .
If you need to cancel due to bushfires please contact the owners to make alternate arrangements. No penalty will occur due to fire. This may be for fires at your home or the instance where fires may impede your travel plans to get to the cottage.
If the reservation you made can't take place for whatever reason we will consider it per individual case. Unfortunately this sometimes involves costs and rescheduling shortly before the period is not always possible. This is why we advise that you include a holiday travel and cancellation insurance.
Liability
The guest in who's name the reservation is made is the main guest and therefore also responsible for their co-guests. The rental agreement is personal and you are not allowed to sub-let in part or as a whole to others.
In case the house rules are not respected we reserve the right to take appropriate measures any costs incurred with this will be charged either in full or in part via the stored credit card.
As a guest you are responsible for any damages that occurred during your stay. We ask that you report any damage immediately this includes damages caused by your fellow guests or your invited visitors. Damages/breakages etc. that are already present or visible upon arrival should be reported directly upon arrival. Reporting damagesafterwards that cannot be attributed to other quests will be charged to the person currently renting the accommodation. This precludes damages that are from fair use and natural wear and tear.
Cleaning
Our accommodation is cleaned after every guest checks out. We try to keep the cottage as clean as possible. This can be quite challenging as the shire is dry and wind driven with dust being prevalent. If the house is not up to your expectations please let us know immediately as clean accommodation is very important to us!
