In 2016, we're making much ado about … everything.

Bendigo Writers Festival turns five this year, and it’s 400 years since Shakespeare died. If we needed an excuse to celebrate, there’s two right there.

We're welcoming a brilliant lineup of speakers who will light up View Street in the heart of Bendigo, including Kerry O'Brien, Sarah Fergsion, Di Morrissey, Stephanie Alexander, Hugh Mackay, Stephanie Dowrick and Frank Brenana and much more. Our feature events this year is not to be missed, including live via videolink from London, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange talks to Robert Manne, about the impact this “cypherpunk revolutionary” has had on international political power.

The festival provides a forum to meet and talk about books and writing, and, mostly, to enjoy the conviviality of a festival set in View Street, Bendigo. There are interviews and debates about everything; you can be sure you’ll find something to delight, amuse, intrigue and stimulate. And we're inviting everyone to share in a warm and friendly winter weekend.
