Description
About 30 years ago after doing ceramics, Ainsley decided to try oil painting to further her knowledge in art. Later joining the Victorian folk art society which then enabled her to learn different techniques with various teachers, during this time also completing the Teachers Development Program. To further enhance her knowledge Ainsley booked into as many workshops to learn from artists in various mediums and styles.
Ainsley started painting animals after her brother’s girlfriend asked could she paint a picture of his dog for a present. She started not sure how to tackle the fur on the beautiful German Shepherd. The painting turned out very well so then started to paint other animals to capture their personalities.
Ainsley has taught at conventions in Victoria and Queensland, had six paintings published in the Fine Art & Decorative Painting magazine, and won various prizes in the Royal Melbourne Show, Dandenong Show, Lilydale Show, Emerald Show, the Fraser coast show, Bendigo Show, St Marys, and at Kyneton and Woodend.
She loves painting animals as they have so much character, and feels so many are becoming extinct that it is important to capture them in paintings for future generations.
Ainsley also loves doing commissions of peoples pets and animals.
