Central Deborah Gold Mine

Arts & Culture - Cultural Bendigo

Hours: Open 9.30am - 4.30pm daily (except Christmas day)

For an unforgettable experience, descend to the depths of Bendigo's underworld at Central Deborah Gold Mine and discover the significance of Bendigo's gold mining history.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic Central Deborah Gold Mine has limited their tour offering to the underground Mine Experience Tour and Self-Guided Surface Tours.

Mine Experience Tour: 60 minutes
Don a hard hat and miner's lamp, descend 61 metres beneath the surface to Level 2 of the mine and be guided through the honeycomb of tunnels with a friendly and knowledgeable guide. Children need to be at least 3 years of age to complete this hour long tour. Your ticket also includes the Self-Guided Surface Tour.

Self-guided Surface Tour: Allow 30 minutes – 1 hour
Dominated by a huge 22 metre high poppet head, the surface of the mine is a highlight in itself. The surface of the mine contains original buildings and equipment that were essential to the operation of Central Deborah in its mining days. Be sure to visit the interpretive museum to see the “Hand of Faith” gold nugget replica … the Hand of Faith weighs 27.2kg, was found near Bendigo and is significant as the largest gold nugget ever found with a metal detector.

Due to the current COVID-19 regulations, we are currently unable to offer our usual gold panning activity.

Are you a Bendigo resident? Central Deborah Gold Mine is offering an irresistible “Love your local” deal! For a limited time only, the Mine Experience Tour is available at a flat rate of $15 per person or $60 per family for any City of Greater Bendigo resident.

Please call the Bendigo Visitor Centre on 5434 6060 to making a booking or alternatively book online at www.central-deborah.com

Please note:
•A family ticket consists of 2 adults and up to 4 children.
•There is currently a maximum of 6 people per tour on the Mine Experience.
•We recommend that you wear comfortable, flat, enclosed footwear on all underground tours. The mine is an average 14 degrees beneath the surface, so remember to bring warm clothing.

Thanks for your support! Be sure to keep an eye out for the return of Central Deborah's other exciting tours as soon as restrictions are lifted!
