The Bendigo Chinese Association is set to host their Annual Harvest Moon Festival to be held on Dai Gum San, Chinese Precinct on Saturday 10 September 2016.

Throughout the world many cultures celebrate the Harvest or Moon Festival, giving thanks for the food, which has been produced, future prosperity, health, families and friends.

The Mid-Autumn or Moon Festival is a very important celebration for the Chinese people no matter where they live in the world.  The festival takes place when the moon is at its fullest and brightest for the entire year. In China the festival marks when people return home to be with family and friends after the end harvest season. In Australia, the festival falls during early spring so for the Chinese of Bendigo and Australia, it holds a special meaning, marking the end of winter.
